The best puffer jackets for women, at a glance
Which puffer-jacket fill should you choose?
There are three main types of fill: down, feathers, and manmade down alternative.
Its lighter, softer, and more packable than feathers, providing more warmth with less weight and bulk.

(Think of a feather-filled pillow.)
Feathers also have pointy quills, whereas down does not.
What is down fill power?

Fill power is an overall indication of warmth, but it isnt the entire picture.
(You cant even walk a few feet in Manhattan without seeing one this time of year.)
I thought being a New Englander would have prepared me to go to school in Wisconsin.

Yeah, Ive seen it!
The insulated cuffs with thumbholes manage to seal out any chill, along with the removable cinched hood.
Take your pick from over a dozen different colors, including khaki, mint, and chocolate.

I dont usually write reviews, but I had to for this jacket.
I made a great call.
It also washes well.

I would give it 10 stars if I could.
I highly recommend it.
You wont be sorry!

(Celebrities love this thing for a reason, you know.)
After years of lusting after my classmatess TNF puffers, I finally got my hands on one this season.
It was worth the wait, saysGlamourcommerce editorJake Henry Smith.

The high neck negates the need for a scarf, and the built-in hood is nice for wet conditions.
Its available in eight eye-pleasing colors, from classic black to chic ivory and rich navy.
At my age/stage, it seems Im constantly cold and this jacket heats me up almost instantly.

Plus, the body is made from at least 90% recycled polyester, keeping your guilt levels low.
Why did I wait so long?
The long coat is like a big hug.

I feel so covered when I wear itlike other layers arent necessary to stay warm.
The coat is surprisingly lightweight and hits several inches below the knee so that my thighs arent frozen.
It also has a flattering high collar and thumbholes which seal in heat too.

While her model doesnt have a detachable hood, this updated one doesinnovation!
Unlike most of the puffers on the market, this one stands out with its fun silhouette.
The bold print is another standout detail, adding some much-needed vibrancy to the cold months.

With a sweater and scarf, it keeps me toasty into the high forties.
Left open over a dress orT-shirt, it acts like alight sweater.
One excellent feature is the two long interior pockets.

I love that its so lightweight, I barely notice Im wearing a coat.
So no, this isnt a very breathable pick.
But if you better pack on the warmth for freezing days spent outside, Id recommend this pick first.

All of them are water- and wind-resistant.
(Itll also keep you warm in environments down to -22F.)
Its an investment for sure, but the warmest one that youll keep wearing for years to come.

Plus, theres no fur (or faux fur, for that matter) on this model.
What I wish I could improve: Its pockets snap close instead of zip closed.
Having a zip, or some sort of inner phone pocket, would be helpful.

I also wish the sleeves had thumb holes!
(I love a thumb hole.)
But overall, its a nice, standard puffer.

(It also happens to be weather-resistant, meaning drizzle and wintry mix are no problem.)
Wear it on its own or under a largerwool coatwhen you need extra coverage during especially cold weather.
