Glamour: Youve been working in the entertainment industry for years.
Tell us about your career before the song blew up?
That Chick Angel:Ive been performing since a very young age.
Ive always enjoyed being able to transport people via their imagination or their emotions through entertainment.
Acting has been most of my focus, but Ive always sang as well.
After graduating I moved up to LA and have been working as an actor ever since.
In 2009 I started creating content from a mom perspective.
Ive been doing content creation for like 14 years now.
What is the songs origin story?
The video was supposed to be about abstinence, but it inspired something in me.
I thought, I could turn this into a rap song.
So when we went to cover the video, I was like, Kev, gimme a beat.
He starts giving me a beat and I hit this freestyle.
Afterwards, I was like, This is really good.
It started picking up traction, but I wasnt taking it seriously.
Why do you think the sermon clip resonated with you?
I grew up in a church.
I still identify as a Christian woman.
Theres just a lot of shame if youre a woman and youre not a virgin when you get married.
Its very dangerous to continue to have people feel that way.
Its nobodys business what I decide to do with another consenting adult.
You then collaborated with producers Casa Di and Steve Terrell to make a full song.
How did that come about?
I knew someone would put a beat underneath my clip, because thats common in social media.
Lo and behold, the creative geniuses Casa Di, a.k.a.
Carl Dixon, and Steve Terrell put a beat underneath my freestyle and composed something really dope.
I was like, Oh, this is fire.
I wasnt thinking, Nows the time to strike in the music industry.
I really had to pray on it.
So the next day I reached back out to them and said, Okay, lets talk.
I recorded the full song at home.
The turnaround was so fast.
The song quickly blew up on TikTok and served as inspiration for many funny videos.
Which have been your favorites?
There were a lot of ladies night out and day-brunch videos I liked.
We women get a drink and get a little more bold.
Ive done this to my husband multiple times.
Im like, Im gonna figure it out today!
Also, the song ends with, Im lying, Im gonna be asleep.
Because thats usually what ends up happening.
I was just making a fun song.
Ive seen One Margarita called the song of the summer.
Everything aligned on purpose.
I think this is the song thats capturing the fun feeling of the summer.
What place doesnt sell margaritas thats trying to have fun?
Its just not happening.
Youve released amusic video for your remixof the song featuring Saucy Santana that stars Cindy Crawford.
How did she end up in the video?
Casamigos came on to do product placement in the video.
One of Casamigoss owners is Cindy Crawfords husband [Rande Gerber].
When they said Casamigos was coming on to do product placement, that made me so excited.
I wasnt thinking that next were gonna have Cindy Crawford.
We are in a different reality.
We are in a multiverse.
Im gonna wake up sometime soon, but lo and behold, this is all real.
Now that you have a hit song on your hands, whats next for you?
When the actors strike is over, I absolutely plan on returning to acting.
But thats what makes all of this wonderful.
Usually I am busy acting.
I would not have time to do all of this had there not been a strike.
I would love to do more music.
Have you received any backlash to the song?
The reactions have been mostly positive.
There are people who are definitely not happy about the song.
I dont care, to be honest.
There are people who think, because Im a Christian woman, how could I be saying this stuff?
There are people who venture to make the song more of an agenda than what it really is.
That is the blessing of being the age that Im at, the big old age of 43.
I know its not my job to convince you of my intentions.

It seems like the main message of the song is: Have fun and enjoy yourself.
Listen, we live in a world where so many things are happening that are just crazy.
Weve just gotten through a pandemic.
Weve been through a whole revolution when it comes to the treatment of Black people.
Were going through a whole revolution as far as the treatment of the LGBTQIA community.
Theres so many things happening that are so heavy.
Were watching womens reproductive rights be ripped off the table.
Life cant always be this hard.
There has to be bright moments that we can look at.
There has to be fun moments.
There has to be moments that just aint that serious all the time.
Im glad I was able to provide that this summer because it can get so heavy.
It really, really can.
Im just glad our song can be something that people can laugh about.
People can pick the hashtag and see all these hysterical videos.
