It all just fell into place in talking with both of them, Collins says.

It just felt really natural to go down that route, and it felt real to us.

It felt like we were creating a journey, a story to be told through the hair.

Theres a moving story behind the bow wig.

In episode two, Regency Queen Charlotte is seen wearing a wig with an elaborate series of bows.

It was beautiful work.

So I decided to create a wig as an ode to him.

We created a wig just out of bows as my nod to him and toBridgertonseason one.

The inspiration for the hair came from surprising places.

Its not really changed.

We just use more modern techniques to achieve the same thing and make them more lightweight, et cetera.

Our similarity for Regency Queen Charlotte was that her peak is exactly the same on every single one.

Its hand-knotted to her template, and then you create the cage.

Collins estimates that about six to seven people would make all these different elements at the same time.

Its probably 70 hours if its more than one person.

What looks like one wig to you could be eight wigs all made to look like one.

Theres a lot of craft work.

There was a lot of intention behind the hair for Young Queen Charlottes bedroom scene.

It is so beautiful, and it makes [the character] so vulnerable.

That was the notion for that scene, to show her in her natural, vulnerable state.

And then you have the staff coming in the next day, Collins continues.

They start putting the papers in for the curls.

So, obviously, theyre getting used to her and her hair.

Thats that journeytime moving forward of her being there and being taken care of by these new people.

Many of Regency Queen Charlottes wigs nod to what shes currently thinking about.

Collins says she put orchidsa symbol of fertilityin the back of this floral wig as a nod to that.

In another scene, the queen is seen watching a theater performance alone.

Its a moving moment, meant to demonstrate how lonely she has been without the king.

Collins and her team put two love birds on top of the wig to hint at their enduring love.

The young and old Queen Charlottes wigs also call back to each other throughout the series.

Its kind of a mix between those two, she says.

Its got exactly the same kind of suit, sewed coils of hair.

The wholeBridgertonQueen Charlotte is Georgian, Collins says.

Everything about her is 18th century, and it always has been inBridgerton.

Shes the only person in a Regency period wearing her Georgian wig.

This, for us, was the story of how that happened.

We had the opportunity with Young Charlotte to show how she gradually led up to that in her life.

And then she stayed in that moment, and shes never come away from it.
