You dont have to put yourself in a box just because people expect you to be in a box.

Flanigans ability to unapologetically express herself has been nurtured by her school and classmates at Spelman College.

But when you go to a place like Spelman or Howard or Tuskegee, theyre looking for you.

It makes me feel like I actually matter.

What Im doing matters, who I am matters, and I feel seen.

And her work and interests are as unique as she is.

She recently completed a three-month internship at tech giant Nvidia.

And she is deeply passionate about bringing her own perspective as a Black woman to tech.

Even if people think Im weird or that I might be too much, its who I am.

When do you feel the most beautiful?

I feel most beautiful at night when Im doing my nighttime skin care routine.

I really love Korean skin care products.

What advice would you give to an incoming freshman about finding their place in STEM?

Dont stick it through if youre not passionate about it.

Dont be afraid to leave.

Dont be afraid to walk away from places that dont serve you.
