I used my morning to figure out insurance for NYC and laws on preexisting conditions.

Thurston says she’s ready to fight this and plans to share her journey with her followers.
One thing I did early on was search other stories like mine.
Other young women with breast cancer, she wrote.
Pregnancy after breast cancer.
All of their stories helped.
So I intend to be the same for others.
This is day one of sharing and is going to be a long one.
This first step of acceptance of my reality was the hardest.
But I am ready to fight this.

According to the medical center, Invasive ductal carcinoma starts in cells that line the milk ducts in yourbreast.
It can spread from your milk duct to surrounding breast tissue.
From there, the cancer can get into yourbloodstreamorlymphatic systemand spread to other areas of your body.

When was Thurston diagnosed?
She first decided to share the news two weeks after processing the diagnosis.
I experienced a range of emotions over the past two weeks, she said in February.
I cried a lot.
I tried to even make a video instead of this post and couldnt.
When will Thurston start treatment?
I’m very confident in the team at Columbia and I just wanted to share that update.
She says the treatment plan is essentially the same for her liver as her breast cancer.
So in basic terms, my breast cancer is the root and will be the focus.
Thurston married Jeff Acuri prior to starting treatment.
Thurston and Arcuri got married at home in a backyard ceremony on March 22.
Ill get married to you tomorrow.
We flew our parents in from Michigan and Washington State.
We got our marriage license and a friend is just gonna marry us.
Theres more power to that, he said.
I dont want to be not with you for any of this."
She added, He is proving that hes here to stay.
He shows up every day and he does it in ways that just continue to surprise.
