This isnt to say that the film is gratuitous.
Its not a perfect movie, but I thought it was thought-provoking and effective.
Like isnt it horrifying how brazen rich men can be in using women as commodities?
What does it mean to truly atone for sexual violence?
And how do women take back their power in a patriarchal world?
But I worry its overall themes are being glossed over all the same.
Which is a shame, because they are important.
Not for shock value, but because its only by seeing something that we can change it.
The point isnt to traumatize you, she said.
You just need to look, and let it sit there for a second.
But they dont want to look.
