Camila Morrone doesnt miss.

Morronestars as Camila Dunne, the wife of the titular bands frontman, Billy Dunne (Sam Claflin).

But Camila is far from just the plus-one of a rockstarshes an artist in her own right.

Think moreHailey Bieber,less June Cleaver.

Particularly the more misogynistic ones.

The end result, of course, is that you end up falling in love with both of them.

Just as Billy does.

What I liked about the writing was they didnt pit these two women against each other.

(Or maybe thats just the warm rasp of her pleasantly deep voice?)

And yet she never divulges too much, her words measured.

All that professionalism is paying off.

Then, she leads the forthcoming romantic heistMarmaladeoppositeStranger Thingsbreakout Joe Keery and Aldis Hodge.

At this point its all hers for the taking.

Glamour: How did you prepare for the role of Camila?

And I watched some films from that time.

But I also work with a few acting coaches, and we created the backstory and the character.

I loved that the character was so layered.

What was it like for you to portray those conflicting emotions?

Camila Morrones ‘Daisy Jones Character Is So Much More Than the Rock Stars Wife

Well, I mean, Im human, so I have all those emotions and more.

I think that with every role that I do, hopefully theyre incredibly complex characters.

With Camila in particular, its just so not linear, what she feels.

Their dynamic is messy and complicated in the way that life is and that human emotions are.

For me, bringing all of those intricacies was what my priority was for her.

Shes also so matureI kept having to remind myself shes supposed to be so young.

Where do you think that maturity came from?

I think the choice to leave home at a young age made her grow up.

Thats an attribute that Camila really has.

Being a young mom is something that really forced Camila to grow up quite quickly.

Camila is a photographer and Billy is a musician.

That dynamic can be really hard, with two creative people.

Was it important for you to imbue her with her own sense of independence?

I wanted to double-check that it was in the writing.

Camilas really great at stepping back and looking back at the big picture.

That scene where she says, I didn’t move here for you.

Was there any scene that was particularly challenging for you?

That was really, really challenging.

And I think the scene on the balcony was challenging.

It all comes to this explosion of emotions in those two scenes.

Those were hard days for both Sam and I.

They were very emotional.

to get there as an actor, you have to tap into your real life and all of that.

Those are kind of the exhausting, really hard days.

What was your relationship like with Sam on set?

I was there when Sam was doing his chemistry read.

Sam and I have such an organic friendship.

I think every actor says that like, Oh, its just so easy.

But it really is easy for me and Sam.

Theres a real kind of partnership.

There was a real kinship.

We both would ask each other, What can I do to help you?

What was your relationship like with Riley?

On the show, as Daisy, shes your fellow creative but also maybe coming for your man.

Well, the problem with Riley is that shes the cutest, sweetest person on earth.

Its kind of hard to hate her.

It wasnt based in jealousy or rivalry or competition.

They both admire certain qualities that the other person has that they dont contain.

There was a point where it seems like Camila cheats with another member of the band.

What do you think drove her to that point?

So this was interesting for me, because its not in the book.

I wasnt sure that was the right choice for her.

She seems so pure and untouchable.

I think that there was something that was essential and empowering in her decision to have an affair.

Its something that you carry within you, just for her to know.

I dont think she did it out of spite for Billy.

She was always perfect and knew the right thing to say and always upheld everyone.

She was always the grounding person, and the person that everyone came to for advice.

Shes always there, and she makes people feel great.

I love her relationship with the band.

Did you guys have that kind of familial relationship off set?

Because the chemistry between the band and Camila is great.

Its funny, because I wasnt around for their months of rehearsals.

That the chemistry that you see on screen is completely effortless, and its not acting.

We are all incredibly close; theres just an ease to everything.

What was the filming process like for you?

So that was really special for me.

How do you feel about the time period?

But Im also so familiar with the LA kind of hippie scene.

I mean, Ive lived around Laurel Canyon and am so familiar with these spots.

I want to see to it we talk about the costumes.

Theres going to be a resurgence of the 70s.

I can feel it.

Im already seeing it a little bit at the screeningsstuff like furry, fluffy coats.

What was your favorite thing that your character wore?

She starts owning her aesthetic and glamour and being the wife of the biggest rock star on earth.

That was a day that I think was very glamorous.

Were there any costumes that you were jealous of?

And then Riley has these insane outfits, especially toward the endlike that big caftan she wears.

I was trying to steal them and put them into my character.

But theyre also individualized and specific.

It wouldve never worked for Camila.

I know that youve dabbled in guitar.

Are you a musician yourself?

I was looking at videos yesterday, and I was actually kind of getting good.

I stopped in the last year because I was filming so much.

Its a really big part of my life.

I like anything in the arts, anything thats creative.

So I never say no to anything.

I would totally be open to doing something in music one day.

What are you listening to right now?

I really love Rosalia.

I just went to see her show in London.

Shes got this flamenco…she incorporates tango.

Im Argentinian, and all her songs are in Spanish.

So Ive been having a really good time listening to her album.
