The rest of the states mostly voted to stick with current law, or codify existing protections.
Voters in Nebraska and South Dakota rejected measures that would have restored abortion rights in their state.
But now the state will enshrine those rights into its constitution.

It also repeals an amendment from 1984, which stops public funds from being used for abortions.
This makes it the first pro-abortion rights ballot measure to fail since theDobbs v. Jacksondecision overturnedRoe v. Wadein 2022.
It doesnt include exceptions for rape or incest.

It also makes it a felony for doctors to perform an abortion outside of these narrow legal parameters.
And Maryland voters approved it, strengthening those protections.
Theamendmentwill strike down Missouris current abortion ban and legalize the procedure until fetal viability.
But advocates say its an important step to verify those protections never go away.
It does include an exception for the health of the pregnant person or rape and incest.

InNevadavoters chose to amend their states constitution to protect reproductive rights.
It will allow an individual to get an abortion to protect their own health or life.
Similar to some of the other measures, this now fortifies current law rather than creating anything new.
Since the amendment failed, the current ban stands.
