Do you have a first fragrance core memory?
Jake Shane:My first memory of a fragrance, I think, wasTaylor Swifts Wonderstruckperfume.
I remember getting it at Sephora.

I know all the niche Swiftie fandom references, of course.
We often tie fragrance to memories.
Are there notes that remind you of certain things?
And now when I smell roses, it reminds me of being in the rose fields.
A body spray reminds me of middle school.
How much perfume is too much perfume?
I’m really OCD, so I do 10 sprays, which feels like a lot.
I feel like its a little wasteful too; thats probably too much.
But people still compliment me and tell me I smell good.
I think spritz, spritz, spritz, spritz, and then let it settle.
And then, one or two, or a few, over your whole body.
I do about 10 spritzes total.
I love the cloud and step, on the pulse points.
How do you tell your coworker theyre wearing too much perfume?
I would never tell someone that Im not super close with that, ever.
But if it was my friend, Id be like, You smell bad.
What smells give you the ick?
I hate the smell of a refrigerator.
If theres any food in it, I wont open it.
I cant, I hate it.
It makes me sick to my stomach.
Obviously, sulfur is disgusting.
I hate the smell of…theres these trees.
Theyre thesewhite flowering trees, and they dont smell right.
I dont know if I can say it.
It does smell like semen, honestly, and its disgusting.
Thats my number one.
Thats what I always think.
I hope nobody ever looks at that tree and says, Lets make a perfume out of that.
I pray to God that they dont because its my number one pet peeve.

Are there any perfumes or notes that give you the ick?
I dont love a pumpkin, when its a pumpkin-y cinnamon.
On the flip side, what perfumes or notes will make you chase a person down the street?
Im not even just saying this, but I really do love theNOYZ Sh**ty Day.
It feels very woody and clean.
It feels very like something that someone who youd describe as quiet luxury would wear.
I just dont see the point in it.
It feels like Im coming back from middle school gym class.
Secretly spraying your dates pillow with your fragrance?
They will smell you, and theyll remember you.
The department store fragrance aisle?
I hate the department store fragrance aisle more than anything in the world.
Its an overkill of smells.
It makes me sick, so no.
Using fragrance as deodorant?
No, no, no.
We can not use fragrance as deodorant.
I knew someone that did that.
They smelled like shit.
You need an antiperspirant.
I cant emphasize that enough.
