Glamour:What are the little things that help you feel powerful and confident?
Julianne Moore:Being prepared makes me feel powerful.
And if I feel off balance, then I don’t feel confident.
What is one beauty rule that you swear by?
It really makes a huge difference.
But you’re able to’t just slather on sunscreen and then sit at the beach.
You should wear a hat, you should sit under an umbrella.
You should expose yourself only at certain times of the day.
you might’t go to the beach at 12 o’clock.
I’ve actually been pretty lucky because I’ve stayed out of the sun most of my life.

What is one beauty rule that you think is BS?
That you have to look a certain way or that you have to wear makeup.
you’re free to be professional without makeup.
Makeup should be a want, not a need.
If it makes you feel confident or professional, that’s great.
If it does not make you feel that way, then don’t use it in that capacity.
I think that’s the most important thing.
What is the best beauty advice youve ever received?
So I think that’s really important.
So you’re trying to enhance what your face does.
If you have skin like mine, when I blush, it’s going to be pink.
Look for what your skin does naturally.
What is your favorite beauty trend at the moment?
I love face oil.
If you’re going to go out and put something on your face really fast.

I have really, really wavy hair.
And it’s hard for me to love it when it’s really frizzy and out of control.
And I know that I shouldn’t feel that way, but I do.
And so when my hair is straight, I always feel really good about it.
Do you straighten it yourself or go to the salon?
I have [done it myself], but I do better if I get blown out.
And then sometimes I just tie it back.

What is one skin care treatment that you dont mind spending a lot of money on?
It’s really amazing.
I know a guy named Fabricio Ormonde here in New York, and he’s really fantastic.
It takes some time, it’s time intensive, and it’s expensive.
But it’s really worth it.

How often do you go?
But first time you do it, you’re supposed to go once a week for six weeks.
So it’s kind of crazy cause you feel like you’re never leaving the office.
What is your favorite way to take a moment for yourself?
I love to take a bath.
I love baths, I think they’re just great.
What is your power perfume?
I’ve been wearingKiehl’s Musk, the spray, for probably 25 years or something.
I just really like it.
Every time I have a go at change, I end up coming back to it.
It just smells nice and clean.
And it doesn’t feel big to me.
I really like that.
Well, it would be sunscreen, lotion, and soap.
I just want to be clean and I don’t want to dry up.
Do or Don’t: Applying lipstick while youre at the dinner table at a restaurant?
I think it’s nice go to the restroom.
I always appreciate manners no matter where they are.
I used to say to my kids, I think manners communicate respect to other people.
That there’s not one way of looking.
I think we sort of know that, but we’re still reacting to it.
And also that a lot of these images are created.
I had on huge shoes.
The dress happened to look better cause I was wearing huge shoes.
