Screenwriter, director, actor, singer, comedian, host, superstarbaby, this is Keke Palmer.
Palmers talent as a performer was apparent from an early age.
A year later she released her debut album,So Uncool, through Atlantic Records.

Her rise to movie and music stardom has been meteoric since.
I don’t need anybody to tell me that theyre with it or not.
I’m just feeling like the boss; I’m feeling like that girl.

Approach Me opened up the doors.
I didn’t really think about doing [the visual album] at first.
It was my manager, Billy, who was like, I think it would be good.
I think you should make a run at put all your things together.
I think it would be dope.
But the reality is I’m not actually just a musician.
I’m not just somebody who sings; I’m somebody who performs.
I’m a comedian, I’m a host, I do a lot of different things.
So why would my music exist in this stratosphere that limits all that I can offer?
Standards was the first track that we released [on the new album].
So we had the writers watch the film.
I was so nervous.
I ultimately was in a position where I just could not disappoint myself.
I had to hold my head up high and have my own back.
That was when I was still in the beginning stages of doing my own independent work.
I had done a [music] project before then, and I was coming up with another one.
This [was the] time I was with Interscope Records.
I never really loved it.
And then when it came down to it, T.I.
Even the fact that it was on Disney Channel was because of my mom.
I mean, It’s My Turn Now [fromJump In!]
was everything, honey.
That was giving you soundtrack, that was Disney in their amazing DCOM era.
You know we do a little callback to that in theBig Bosswhen I’m in the boxing ring?
It’s for the OG; it’s a little like, Remember this?
I just loved it.
It was just such a great experience.
We played all the time because it was a set full of kids.
If you watch that video back, it was like I thought I was 40 years old.
The way I was walking down that hallway like I was Floyd Mayweather….
It was too much, honey.
I was really performing for my life.
I remember I loved my hair, and my outfit, everything.
I just felt like I was a superstar.
