When I received it, I thought it was a very well-made bag, one happy customer told me.
Even if it wasnt a dupe or an inspired bag, I would still love it.
Its great for holding a lot of items.
My “Wirkin,” in all its glory (?)
Ive traveled with it, used it for work, and even used it to hold my groceries.
After I finished my story, I had an idea.
Why not try out the Wirkin for myself?
The bag, under brand names like Bestpr and Kamugo, was popping up in a variety ofTikTok shops.
Basically, it was incredibly clear I could be getting scammed, but I soldiered on.
I decided to also attempt to be choosy.
If I was going to get a Walmart Birkin, why not go big?
I found a shop that offered a bag with a scarf included, the leather a pleasant dark blue.
That is, I would be, when it arrived.
You may have guessed where this is going.
Then I finally got an update.
My order had been canceled.
A lesser woman would have given up.
But I was determined now to review this thing.
I headed back to TikTok Shop, where the options were now decidedly slimmer.
Gone were the bags with the scarves, or even the ones in interesting colors.
Finally, I found another shop that had the bag in stock.
Then I could write an honest review.
Immediately, there were issues.
My Wirkin, in all its glory (?)
The first problem was the size.
I hate this thing, I thought, over and over.
The size issue was only the first of many plagues this bag would hoist upon me.
Think of all the ways a purse is supposed to be used.
Now imagine a purse that did none of them correctly.
The shoulder strap also didnt stay in one place, forcing me to readjust it constantly.
If I put it down, it slumped over like a deflated balloon.
The latching system on the front was confusingly complex.
The leather felt cheap, the hardware unimpressive.
Or are dupes just duds?
Whats interesting to me is that the original Birkin was intended to be as utilitarian as a tote.
